Condition:

Small crater-like openings in the finish

Cause:

  1. Painting over surfaces contaminated with oil, wax, silicone, grease, etc.
  2. Use of a thinner / reducer in place of a solvent cleaner when first cleaning the surface to be painted.
  3. Spraying over previously repaired areas having a existing “fisheye” surface.
  4. Oil contamination of air lines.
  5. Uneven spray pattern.

Prevention:

  1. Clean the substrate or surface carefully before applying coating
  2. Drain and clean the air pressure regulator daily.

Treatment:

  1. Sand down the affected area and clean the surface with PCI degreaser and than refinish it again with PCI alternative products listed.
